I have a background in Film & TV, and so much of my practice is centered around moving image. I am fascinated in equal measure by evolving technologies and traditional techniques, and so this informs my work - often mixing analog with digital, and the classical with the experimental.
'Phase Collapse' is an expression of my love for both analog and digital formats, and involves a multi-stage process that utilises 35mm film photography, analog video, 3D rendering, digital compositing and set design. The themes involve transcendence, existential horror and the virtual self - told through a glitch-art aesthetic that mixes both traditional and experimental techniques.
Easily the best thing about becoming a technician at NTU was discovering so many like-minded individuals who were equally as nerdy and passionate about their craft as me. It's rare that I fit in anywhere, but here it just clicked.
