3D Make
I am a theatre designer and maker outside of working at NTU. I previously studied Theatre Design at NTU, and before that was a carpenter apprentice. I think it’s really important to keep learning and because of this I have a wide variety of skills and hobbies, allowing me to support courses such as Theatre, Costume, Fine Art, and courses that use the Adobe suite. My hobbies mainly include: model making, 3D printing, leatherworking, and woodworking/woodturning. However I really enjoy learning new skills and just this year have picked up: crocheting, making my own clothes, natural dying, electronics, photography, and making instruments. I’m a big fan of recycling and keeping work as environmentally friendly as possible and because of that I love working with natural materials.
I’m a maker who loves working with natural materials and keeping our connection to the earth and the materials it gives us. This project was created to show we can still make things with traditional materials and don’t need to rely on cheap harmful plastics. This hoopla set is made from oak and recycled sapele that I turned on the lathe, the paint using egg tempera, and the cord on the hemp quoits is handmade nettle cordage.
